The demand for paper and cardboard has increased significantly in recent years, partly due to the harms of and restrictions on plastic. Wood is a natural, renewable raw material and therefore an environmentally friendly choice. But it takes a long time - typically 25 to 70 years - for a tree to mature or reach its maximum height. For example, the fastest growing tree grows three times slower than bamboo.
Bamboo has unique characteristics which offer ecological advantages compared to wood-based paper products. It grows without the help of fertilisers or pesticides, even on nutrient-poor soil. It matures within 3 to 5 years and after harvesting, new trunks grow from the root system. Because the roots remain intact in the soil, soil erosion is prevented.
Classified as a grass, bamboo plants capture more carbon dioxide and release 35% more oxygen into the atmosphere, compared to a similarly sized stand of hardwood trees. Naturally bug and disease resistant, bamboo is anti-fungal, anti-bacterial and does not require much water to grow.
100% recyclable, 100% sustainable and 100% biodegradable.
